Today, Canon officially announced the new EOS R5 and EOS R6 Mirrorless cameras, and they are already available for preorder.

The GPS feature of my 7D2 has been very useful so I’ve been holding out on a new Mirrorless until GPS was added to one of Canon’s new mirrorless bodies.  But looks like it’s not going to happen, and I’m not looking forward to making and importing GPS log files into Lightroom again.

But regardless, these two full-frame mirrorless bodies look like very nice upgrades for those of us considering switching from DSLR to mirrorless.  Especially since the R6 is dust and weather-sealed, which is great for us outdoor photowalker-type photographers that enjoy shooting in questionable weather situations.

On an unrelated subject, our meetup website fees are coming up due this month, so this is a friendly reminder that HoustonPhotowalks is supported by your visits and purchases at our advertising partners and clicking our links.  If you are considering moving to more on-line purchases rather than visits to the store, consider visiting our Perks and Sponsorships page.

For example, clicking any Amazon link on this website prior to putting items in your cart returns a small portion of your purchase back to HoustonPhotowalks to help us pay our Meetup fees and other group-related bills.

And for those that click our Amazon links before shopping THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

This money is used to pay Meetup.com fees, website hosting fees, classroom fees, teaching fees, donations to museums and venues, provide bottles of water when possible, compensate organizers for their time, etc. When you click links, the HoustonPhotowalks organization may receive a fee when you purchase a product or service.
