Workshop: Let’s build a Portfolio and blog Website with WordPress!

September 2 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Have you ever wanted to have your own portfolio website, where you own your photos, content, and site design?

Many of you know I run a Marketing-Focused IT company called 24Moves.com. So to mix my day job with my weekend hobby, I plan to do a class on building your own WordPress website!

At the end of the class, you will have a complete WordPress website that belongs to you, and you will know how to keep it updated!

Those that attend the class will also review 4 months of FREE web hosting, a $100 value at 24Moves (see hosting plans and prices here: https://www.24moves.com/services/web-hosting/).

This will be a long class, but we will take several breaks. And there is a lot of hands-on activities.

For this class, each student will receive a WordPress starter installation website on one of my servers. I will also install a few needed plugins to help get you ready to hit the ground running.

During the class, I will teach about the following:

  • Setting up the basics

  • How to navigate the admin screens

  • How to select a color scheme

  • How to select the right fonts

  • Adding your personal logo to the site (if you don’t have a logo, I will provide a few default logos you can use until you have one)

  • How to add pages (we will create “about me”, and “contact me” pages).

  • How to create blog posts.

  • How to create Gallery pages for your photos!!

  • Updating the WordPress menu

  • How to make sure your website runs and loads fast.

  • Using ChatGPT to correct your grammar and provide great SEO results.

  • Information about web hosting services.

  • How to use the Divi WordPress Page Builder

Once the class is complete, feel free to leave the website on my server while you finish making your changes. We will talk about web hosting options, and the costs and benefits of various WordPress hosting providers. By the end of 2023, your website should be set up in its forever home.
