Seek Ye A Photowalk? 4th Annual Sherwood Forest Faire
March 2, 2013 @ 10:00 am
Gonna be a bright Sunny blue-sky kinda day tomorrow, the temps will hover in the upper 50’s to lower 60’s most of the daylight day. Great day for a sweater or hoodie.
Most direct route from Houston is via 290. Check their web site for full directions and a printable PDF. From Central Houston on a Saturday AM, it will take about 2 hours.
Let’s meetup for lunch about 11:30a near the Greenwoode Theatre. There’s a couple of places nearby to get food, like the Lettuce Inn. They sell Turky Legs, Chili, Chicken Gumbo, Sausage on a Stick — and other things that will shorten your lifespan.
The Lettuce Inn is directly left when you first walk in the entrance, past the first aid station, past the pee pee station, past the beer vendor. Or grab food anywhere else that meets your fancy. There should be places for us to sit near/at the Greenwoode Theatre. If not, we’ll end up somewhere else, keep an eye out for a gathering, I’ll have Marty and Alex with me.
Here is a pictorial map of the actual fairgrounds:
I suggest bringing at least one telephoto lens along with you, they keep the spectators a bit far away from the actual jousting. Guess they don’t want anyone to get their eye poked out? 🙂
Camera tip for this trip: its going to be very Sunny, but the location is under a heavy canopy of green trees. You might be tempted to use “Auto” or “Sunny” White Balance, but those who took our White Balance class will tell you this is a good day to make use of the grey card or ExpoDisc!
See you tomorrow!
Marty and I accidentally discovered the Sherwood Forest Faire last year during a weekend outing. We found it to be really interesting and filled with photo ops. Its a lot like RenFest — without the massive crowds. For this event, arrive whenever you want, then we’ll all meet somewhere around lunchtime. Meetup details to follow.
This is the description from their web site: FEATURING OVER 40 STAGE ACTS, OVER 130 MERCHANT SHOPPES, GREAT FOOD, AND FUN RIDES & GAMES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
Tickets are $18 for ye ol’ folks and $10 for the pint-sized. Click this link for ticket info.
Sherwood Forest Faire is located about 120 miles up 290, click this link for a PDF map.
