Photowalk: Mercer Arboretum
November 27 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Mercer Arboretum is located on the Northeast side of Houston – in the city of Humble. It offers a variety of plants, flowers, etc. to photograph. This will also be a good chance to walk off some of the excess pumpkin pie you had the day before on Thanksgiving.
We’ll meet near the entrance. You’ll be free to walk around and shoot as you want.
FOR OUR NEWER MEMBERS – we’ve had a lot of new people join recently – many who are new to digital photography, and have lots of questions. I’ll be making myself available to answer questions you may have (to the best of my ability…),
PLEASE NOTE – face masks are mandatory for this photowalk. First, it’s for both your safety and everyone else’s. Second, as a group, it shows we care – not only about each other, but everyone else. I work for a hospital system, and get updates daily on COVID-19. I know way more about this virus than I want to admit to.
CAMERA HINTS / TIPS
Many of the plant and flowers are great choices for macro photography. So if you have a macro, or long telephoto/zoom, bring it.
Mercer does allow the use of tripods, monopods and platipods.
If it’s a bit windy, you might consider bringing a flash to help freeze any motion, and shoot in high speed sync mode.
You will be required to wear a face mask. No exceptions.
You will be asked to change your RSVP to “No” if you develop a fever, flu-like symptoms, loss of taste/smell, sudden cough, or sore throat. Or have tested positive, or been in contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive 21 days prior to the event. You also agree to wear a mask at all times while with the group participating in the photowalk. If you are not able to wear a mask, this will not be an event for you to attend. No additional COVID-19 assurances, promises, or protection can be provided. We would love for you to participate, but as with any public activity, we participate at our own individual risk. Due to limitations on group gathering size, please do not bring a guest.
