Photowalk: Evening Walk along 19th Street
February 22 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
19th Street in Houston near Yale Street is a very active area for “people, places and things” photography — especially on Saturdays. Things start to settle down after sundown and some of the shops close up. This makes it easier to get clear shots of the historic buildings. Some of the restaurants are still active, for people that like to do street photography. This photowalk starts after dark, so it is a great opportunity to practice our low-light photography skills.
We’ll stroll along and enjoy the sites for about two blocks, then circle back and shoot the historic buildings from the back ally.
RSVP QUICKLY, and do NOT no show. This event has a limited number of participants to keep us from stepping on each other or getting in each other’s shots.
After roll-call, we will walk along 19th Street for 2 blocks to Ashland Street. The adventurous photographers can walk 1/2 block North on Ashland Str to stroll through 1 block of 19th Street’s Back Alleyway. The back of historical buildings always presents interesting and unusual textures and grit. They will be fun to shoot with your light painting tools.
Let’s meet in the parking lot next to Vinal Edge Records. Typically we park in the open parking lot next door, near 19th and Yale. This is going to be a smaller group, so we shouldn’t have problems finding spaces there.
We will meet for a roll call and answer any questions. The end time is an estimate, you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
