Photofloat: Downtown on Buffalo Bayou in a Private Pontoon Boat + Photowalk
April 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

We rented a pontoon boat called The Spirit of the Bayou to take us on a tour of Houston’s famous downtown waterway during the spring month of April. We will get to see Houston from a very unique vantage point and get pictures of areas otherwise impossible to shoot. We will also pass by critters, large and small, winged and on foot.
We’ll pass by several historical locations and the beautiful sites of downtown Houston. The trip includes floating under several overpasses and bridges. We will ride through the heart of downtown along historic Buffalo Bayou past Allen’s Landing, Sesquicentennial Park and Sabine Promenade, historic McKee Street Bridge, and the industrial side of our city.
- Dress in weather-appropriate clothing with the understanding that it will be about 5 degrees cooler on the water.
- Take care of any “pit stops” before the tour, as the restroom on the boat is for emergencies only.
We will start by photowalking downtown at Allen’s Landing for about 1 hour. The boat will leave from Alen’s Landing at precisely 2pm.
Departure Location: 1019 Commerce Street (at Main Street), go down the cascading stairs (on your left of the 3-story brown brick building). The pontoon boat will be docked at the wharf.
Parking: Metered parking is available on Commerce Street and nearby side streets. Parking is available in several surrounding downtown parking garages, surface lots, or metered street parking.
We are limited to 20 people, so RSVP quickly! The ticket Price is $30 per person to pay for the Pontoon rental and for the Captain to navigate the waters. Note: no children under 4 years old please.
