We haven’t taught this class in several years, so I’m rewriting the powerpoints for this one. Members who attend this class will get free copies of the presentation slides and my eBook “Creating Texture Photographs” (available at the HPW online store for $9.80).

Photographing textures is a great “staying at home” opportunity for making interesting photography while practicing your skills.

When I first started with digital photography, one of the things I did to train myself on new camera technology (and trying to memorize button locations) was to spend time taking texture-based images. It was easy to do without having to drive very far because textures are everywhere. For example, walkways, flaking paint, plywood, bricks, etc. After creating some really boring images, I realized I needed to learn some important techniques to create interesting, correctly exposed, and correctly composed texture images.

I will be going over these Texture Photography tips and tricks.

Once you have a collection of “textures” in your catalog, you can use them for compositing with other images by blending them in photoshop.

After we discuss some techniques, we will have a 7-day Texture Photography Challenge so we can practice our techniques and hone our skills, both in using our camera and in capturing the textures around us (even at home!).

This will be a zoom meeting, the class will be about 1 hour with a discussion/Q&A afterward.
