Photowalk: 2nd Annual Metro Rail “No Pants” Friday
May 3 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
No-Pants Friday is an annual Houston Metro Rail event that happens on the First Friday in May. It’s a fun and colorful way to celebrate cultural diversity, anti-body shaming, and the clean and safe Metro Rail System!
No-Pants Friday started as part of No-Pants Subway Night in New York. It has slowly made its way across the US, even being practiced in public buses in Ohio and Illinois.
Details from their website:
“Houston Metro Rail system is so clean and safe, you can sit on it with your bare bottom. But since we can’t ride nude, we will show our Metro Pride by riding in our undies! Wear your most colorful outfits, show your Houston Pride, and post the shenanigans on Instagram with hashtag #MetroHoustonNoPants!
“Rules: NO in appropriate behavior. This is not a sanctioned Metro Rail event. People misbehaving will be kicked off and possibly arrested by Metro Police. Last year, ladies who wore thongs were not arrested or kicked off but were encorraged by Metro Police to put on pants — and they refused. It is not illegal to wear underwear. You must wear a shirt, socks and shoes — the idea is “no pants”.
To make it even more fun, wear your most colorful outfits, hair style and makeup. Be a clown and have fun, bring the whole family! Last year some folks wore heavy coats, hats and hand mittens … with no pants. LOL funny stuff!!”
Event starts 5pm (when unsuspecting people are heading home from work) and runs until the last metro run of the night. We will start our photowalk at Bombay Pizza near the Main Street Center water feature.
We will hop on-and-off various metro rail trains, practicing our street photography with No Pant participants and the funny reactions of people that don’t know what’s going on. I suggest we ride the metro NORTH to University of Houston Downtown, then ride it back South to NRG Stadium … and then ride it North back to Bombay Pizza for some dinner.
Wear your cleanest and most colorful undies!!
